I’m Jennifer Hutzel,
Cooking delicious healthy food is what I love to do! I always look to seasonal inspiration for my recipes. My goal is to help anyone at any level eat more plants. On this site you’ll find a variety of cooking inspiration. I like to focus on plant-based mains, but I also have lots of great soups and stews, macro bowls, and of course some sweet treats.
I strongly believe that what we eat directly impacts us physically and even mentally. Foods that are heavy or have chemicals in them negatively affect us, like being tired and sluggish, while foods that are fresh, wholesome, and nutrient-rich will help us not only be healthier but happier, clear minded, and more energized.
Macrobiotics makes sense to me because it is about finding balance within yourself by choosing the right foods for your body. It is not restricting like some modern diets that don’t allow certain foods to be eaten or not eaten. That being said, I believe that every body is different and should eat the best way to support his or her own body and health. Being aware of what I’m eating is important to me because certain foods make me feel anxious or bloated and uncomfortable. This has led me to become much more interested in food and cooking as well. I enjoy making my own meals every day, which allows me to know exactly what I’m putting in my body and how it will affect me.
My cousin Nancy was the one who introduced me to macrobiotics. She has been eating healthy for as long as I can remember and has been a big influence to me. Every meal she has cooked for me has been delicious and made me feel good after eating it. For me, cooking and sharing healthy food bring people together and create community.
